How we source

  • Every campus starts from at least one public source and carries a confidence grade: A (verified against a primary source), B (several consistent sources), C (one secondary source) or D (conflicting or estimated figures).
  • We prefer primary sources: regulatory dockets, grid operator filings, utility earnings releases, government data and company statements. Trackers and news reports are used to find projects and are replaced with primary sources as we verify.
  • Flags mark sources that are secondary, funded by an interested party, advocacy-aligned, paywalled or could not be retrieved, so readers can weigh them.
  • Figures marked “expected” or “estimated” are Discovery Energy model outputs. The methodology explains how they are calculated.
  • Changes to campus data are logged below with the source that prompted them. Report an error to [email protected].
